Sports Basement's Refillable Propane Canisters!

Over 40 million disposable propane canisters are purchased, used, and discarded in the US every year. Even when they
are recycled (a process which is incredibly expensive and difficult) it can be dangerous for sanitation workers if there's any gas left in the containers, which is incredibly common. On the contrary, refillable propane canisters are much more earth-friendly, much safer and much cheaper!

We love the Earth and we love our customers, which is why we sell refillable propane canisters and refill them for free.

How we’ve helped the planet since we started the exchange program (and we’re only gettin’ started):

  • 125,000 canisters kept out of landfills
  • over $760,000 saved by our customers
  • 80,000 FREE refills
  •

Plus, we provide free propane refills to all Basementeers ($2 per fill up for non-Basementeers). Just bring in the empty refillable propane canister you purchased with us, and we'll give you a full one, no waiting necessary - at any of our 11 locations. It's that easy to say no to landfills and say yes to our planet!

The canister fits the same connections as a standard 16oz one, and is certified for 12 years. Free propane refills are for recreational use only.

@GC We are currently sold out at the moment – once we’re back in stock that link should work perfectly. Thanks!

      Hello,
Are the cannisters in stock? The link (https://shop.sportsbasement.com/products/filled-new-canister-16-4-oz) is dead.

      Thanks

@Wenxi We’re so sorry to hear that and that’s definitely not the standard we want to set. Next time you’re in-store, please check in with our team – we’re happy to help you determine what may be going on and even test your canister before you head out!

I’ve used these for yearsss now for my camper van rental business but recently we’ve been getting a bunch of duds! They would connect, but would leak and not light, or they would leak overnight without it being connected. What’s going on? It’s not safe and I’m afraid I may have to buy single use ones from now on :(

Just wanted to bring that to someone’s attention… Hopefully something changes!

@Marc, our 16.4 oz cans are in-stock – you can find them here: https://shop.sportsbasement.com/products/filled-new-canister-16-4-oz
And a standard pressure adapter should work fine but you can always drop by your local SB to pick up a refilled can if you’re a Basementeer!
