Sports Basement Santa Rosa Hosts Community Bike Build for Fire Survivors
December 6, 2018
Santa Rosa, CA -- Sports Basement’s Santa Rosa store is hosting a community bike build event from December 6th through the 9th. Local bike organizations are coming together during the weekend to build 100 children’s bikes that will be donated to survivors of the Santa Rosa and Chico fires.
Over 40 mechanics from Sports Basement, the Santa Rosa Cycling Club, Sonoma Bicycle Coalition, Gianni Cycling, and the Red Peloton Race Team are all volunteering their time to build the bikes throughout the weekend. Once built, they’ll be donated to the Santa Rosa and Chico Fire Departments on December 12th.
“It’s great to see our North Bay community partners coming together to support the Santa Rosa & Chico fire relief efforts. There is such a strong sense of community in Santa Rosa and we are proud to be a part of it.” says Sports Basement’s Marketing Director, Ian Ballentine.
Many Camp Fire survivors lost everything in the fires, while many Santa Rosa fire survivors are still recovering a year later. With the holidays in full swing, these donations are coming at a critical time.
In addition to hosting the bike build event, Sports Basement is also donating 5% of their store purchases to the North Valley Community Foundation to support Camp Fire survivors when customers mention “Fire Relief” at the registers.
