Camping Desserts for Anywhere

Are you achin’ for some campfire desserts, but don’t have any camping plans on the horizon? No worries - we got you covered. Grab your camp stove (I use my trusty Eureka Ignite), refillable propane canister, a few grocery items, and head to your local park, beach, backyard, or kitchen (yes, you can even use your kitchen stove!) to cook up one of these tasty treats. In the past I’ve made these scrummy desserts over an open campfire, but given the recent fire warnings, I’m sticking to my camp stove. Today we’re making Banana Boats and PB Vanilla Wafer S’mores (I know, YUM).

BANANA BOATS

Ingredients

Bananas (1 per person), mini chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, and any additional toppings you might want! (chocolate sauce, peanut butter, sprinkles, etc.)

Cookware

Aluminum foil, spoon, pan, tongs, and a stove of sorts

Directions

  1. Heat pan on stove on medium heat
  2. Peel one section of your banana (don’t fully remove the peel, leave it on)
  3. Scoop out top layer of banana with your spoon
  4. Pour in a healthy amount of mini chocolate chips and mini marshmallows - enough to your liking!
  5. Place peel back on banana, covering the chocolate chips and mini mallows
  6. Wrap banana in aluminum foil to keep chocolate and mallows from oozing out
  7. Place banana in pan on stove and cover for about 7-10 minutes
  8. Remove from pan, unwrap banana, peel back opening, and eat chocolatey-mallowey-bananey (yeah…we’re making that a new word) goodness with your spoon - enjoy!

PEANUT BUTTER VANILLA WAFER S'MORES

Okay, let me start by saying that I am an absolute super fan of traditional s’mores (graham cracker, chocolate, marshmallow = YES), but I’m also open to trying new things, so here we are with the PB Vanilla Wafer S’more. If jumping outside your s’mores comfort zone isn’t your jam, no judgment here - I still think you’re really, really cool! However, if you want to try s'mores with a twist, keep on reading!

Ingredients

Vanilla wafers, peanut butter, peanut butter cups (have you tried Justin’s?), marshmallows **Substitute any nut butter or chocolate cups to accommodate for food allergies

Cookware

Stove, stick for roasting marshmallows, and a knife for spreading the PB

Directions

  1. Place two vanilla wafers on a plate, napkin, table, your lap…basically whatever surface you have!
  2. Spread peanut butter on one of the vanilla wafers (two if you’re feeling adventurous)
  3. Place peanut butter cup on top of peanut butter
  4. Put marshmallow on roasting stick and roast marshmallow to your liking over camp stove
  5. Once the marshmallow is roasted, add it on top of the PB cup/PB/Vanilla wafer, placing the second vanilla wafer on top of the marshmallow.
  6. Smoosh down carefully and enjoy while it’s toasty and warm!
