Solid with Positive Qualities, but Not Perfect for My Needs
I have turf toe and I bought the Hoka Clifton 7, I found that it helped 15%, but not enough to be able to keep exercising on its own. So then I bought carbon fiber insoles and put them under the sole of the Clifton 7. That helped me to be able to run again, but elevated my foot in an unnatural way a...

Sorry, not for me.
Bottom line: the Carbon X 2 is a running shoe with an identity crisis. Fit: Honestly, the fit of the upper, while imperfect, is the best feature of this shoe. It's easy to achieve a good lock down. The heel flare is a great feature and the ankle padding is super comfortable. The biggest issue I have...

My favorite pair of running shoes
They fit perfect and I will be wearing them for my first half marathon! I would buy 30 pair if I could.
Nice but fabric not resistant
I like the shoes but the fabric inside the shoe is not very durable. I probably used the shoes 10 times to run for 6-7 miles and a hole is already inside the shoe where my heel touch the shoe. My previous Hoka Ironman had the same issue but after a longer period but my speed goat are still very resistant inside even if the soul got damage pretty bad in the mountain where I did my race.

I really want to love these shoes but…
I was surprised to find that these shoes are not as wide in the sole of other Hoka models that I have worn. I think in that regard, the shoes feel more like a racing flat rather than a training shoe. My only criticism about the shoe is that the size 12 runs small. This resulted in a painful "black toe" after my first longer run
Shoe ran small
I've run in size 11 for years, but this shoe was 1/2 too small. However, I returned it and order a Ricnon 3 instead and it fits fine. No hassles on the return.
Great shoe for racing and/or daily traning
Was a little skeptical about using this for a daily trainer shoe. I have now put in 60 miles and they are great. With other shoes (Hoka Mach 5) I would occasionally have some foot pain, but when I run in these that is never a problem. They are super springy and running in them just feels effortless. Might have to cop another pair since they are still on sale.
Like it but
I like the carbon x 2 for long runs. The problem for me is that the sole at the bottom inside rear is too wide and cuts into my opposite inside leg/heel. I do not have that problem with other shoe brands. I also had to order one 1/2 size smaller than Nike. Went from 10 to 9.5 after return.
