Community Spotlight: Friends of Trione Annadel Park
We're incredibly excited to have the nonprofit organization Friends of Trione-Annadel, which directly supports our own Trione-Annadel State Park, as a Basementeer beneficiary and partner. Learn more about them (from them!) and how you can support below:
About Friends of Trione Annadel Park
Friends of Trione-Annadel is the nonprofit dedicated to protecting the health of our treasured local state park, Trione-Annadel. Through donations from our community, we support the maintenance and development of its trails, structures, and open spaces - ensuring a healthy environment for wildlife and continued accessibility for the public.
Friends of Trione-Annadel was created in September, 2017 in response to increasing maintenance needs of a highly used recreational area which continues to experience declining public funding. According to Neill Fogarty, Supervising Ranger of Trione-Annadel State Park, the park hosts 12-13,000 people per month of all types - hikers, mountain bikers, runners, equestrians, bird watchers and more. The park has over 45 miles of official trails. Due to State budget cuts, the park has had limited ability to maintain the trails, so volunteer organizations have been doing nearly all the trail maintenance.
To help reverse the park’s deterioration and work toward restoration of this unique natural resource, Friends of Trione-Annadel was formed with the intent to protect park resources and to deliver a high-quality visitor experience. Friends of Trione-Annadel will raise funds, foster partnerships and orchestrate projects on behalf of Trione-Annadel State Park. The members sitting on the board are all local residents and park lovers, who spend ample time using the park. Next time you are out see if you spot one of the board members ripping a downhill mountain bike or slamming a trail run!
WHAT AND WHERE IS TRIONE-ANNDEL STATE PARK?
Unlike most other state parks which collect a use fee for public access, our community enjoys largely unrestricted access to Trione-Annadel State Park via several open trailheads. Only a small percentage of park users actually contribute funds to support the park. Located in the heart of Santa Rosa, California the park is 5,092 acres and is loved by locals and residents from all over the Bay Area.
The park is open to walkers, hikers, runners, mountain bikers and even equestrian riding. This means it gets a lot of use! It was established in 1971 so being over 50 years old it needs a lot of maintenance and love.
How can you support?
Affiliate Store
Ready to do some shopping that also gives back to the park? The affiliate store directly on the Friends of Trione-Annadel website is a great way to get top of the line gear while supporting the state park. It has six different leading outdoor brands that all give a percentage of sale back.
COMMUNITY PROGRAM
The #FOTA Community Program is an innovative and unique membership program created specifically by Eventus Outdoors for Friends of Trione-Annadel. This is the perfect way to give back to the park while also getting some incredible benefits! When creating the membership program, Eventus Outdoors recognized that we all have different needs and budgets so it was created with three different tiers. Each tier offers different price point and benefits to best fit your needs!
- Friends $25/year
- Good Friends $50/year
- Best Friend $100/year
While each membership tier offers a different benefit, the one that covers all three is access to all of the Virtual Speaker Series episodes. This speaker series includes a Zoom call with local legends and well known outdoor brands. Attendees learn about a wide range of topics ranging from “Using Nature as Medicine” to “How to Keep Your Trail Shoes Like Brand New with outdoor brand Scarpa” and “Wine Reimagined with Revelshine”. The Zoom chats are real time, so they allow members to engage and ask questions directly to the source! But don’t worry, if you have a scheduling conflict or want to reflect on an episode, everything lives online in the membership library for your viewing convenience. Check out the website to learn more about what is included with each benefit!
DONATE
The most giving option is to simply donate to the park. All donations to Friends of Trione-Annadel will support for generations to come.
