Perfect Safety Investment
I recently bought an Inreach Mini and love it! I created my own personal MapShare page that's protected by username and password. I've shared those credentials with my husband and my parents so at any point in my adventures, then can request my location and see where I am. This is an optional featu...

Untapped Potential
I assume the mini will work for the main reason I bought it, to save me in the woods if I don't have a cell phone signal and need help. Beyond that, I'm a little disappointed because this item has so much untapped potential. For example, I would like to upload GPX files into the companion map, Ear...

Keeps us safe in the AZ desert
We've had this for about 2 1/2 years. My only complaint is that when someone messages you, the alarm is such a pain to silence. You would think that when connected to my tablet it would silence when you view the message from Earthmate

Great for a solo adventure
I can explore safely, especially on a solo trip in the desert

Best Hiking Partner
It is nice to know that help or a loved one is only a button push away. The SOS feature speaks for itself. The texting feature makes it nice to let my wife or kids know that " I am starting my hilke", "I am on the summit". " I am heading down" or that "I am back at the truck". Better yet, if something happens at home, while I am in the backcountry, they can let me know as well. I even take it on business trips when flying. This is a subscription service that I will gladly pay for. Please note that depending on subscription service, numbers of texts are limited. Having said that,I would not leave home without it.
Great Piece of Mind for others
I have had an InReach Mini for 3 years (and an InReach SE for 5 years before that). It works well for me to keep my wife updated on status of trips. I often go for 1-2 week wilderness kayak trips and weather can be a big impact on where we get each night. Being able to call in an emergency is secondary. Hopefully I will never need that. On a couple of occasions I have used VHF radio to call for help for other groups since that help would be local (like a fishing boat a mile from me). A limitation with the InReach Mini is that it is even harder to type on than the SE was. Plan on using it with Bluetooth to your phone. Most of my messages are pre-defined on the web site and can be sent with only a few button presses. Which is good because typing on one of these while kayaking isn't fun.
Great product
Tested about 70 miles offshore and all was good sending and receiving.
Great peace of mind.
After an experience having to walk miles to call for help, I purchased the inReach Mini. It affords me the peace of mind that I will be able to get help if I am in an area without cellular service. I have not had to use it for an emergency, but I like the tracking feature which lets me keep track of the places I have been.
I never leave home without it.
Since most of my camping takes me to areas with zero cell coverage, and closest means of communication can be hours away, my inreach mini is always on my person. Also useful to just let family know where you are when you travel out of the cell coverage areas. Sending a pre-saved message is merely a press of a button and includes GPS location. Cuts their anxiety level down knowing where you are and all is OK.
Highly reliable with great features
My previous device was a Spot messenger, that had no where near the features of the inReach Mini and did not reliably send my messages.
Great Product That Will Come In Handy
I'd thought about purchasing a Garmin inReach Mini for a while, though I wasn't sure if it would be worth the expense. Well, recently for my 68th birthday. My daughter rented a vacation cabin for several days at one of our favorite lakes, where I would take her fishing as a kid. I knew the cellular service was spotty in the area. But come to find we had no service at the cabin. Since it was off season at the time, and we were the only persons staying in that area of the park. It was concerning that we did not have a way to call for assistance in an emergency. So, after arriving back home. I decided that the inReach was well worth the expense, even if only used occasionally. Now, it accompanies me whenever I travel away from home. Out of town visits, long ebike rides, fishing trips, etc. It's easy to carry and use, the monthly service fee is reasonable, and it allows you to stay in contact with someone at all times and provide location information. It's a definite must have for those that are safety conscious. If an emergency arises, there's always someone to hear your call. Thanks for a great product.
Capable and reliable
It is peace of mind. We sometimes are on different adventures near our mountain property, and of course both off grid. We can rely on our 2 inReach Minis (nicknamed STUBBY 1 and 2) to keep us connected. So much better to send a message instead of a generic SOS.
