Description

A trusted trainer for daily maintenance miles, the Clifton has been the keystone of Hoka's cushioned styles for 10 years and counting. Ushering in a new era of plush performance, this next-generation update delivers a revitalized underfoot experience with an additional 3mm in heel-to-toe drop. Delivering the same ultralight cushioning that made the Clifton a fan favorite, they’ve fine-tuned the fit and added a breathable jacquard upper with double-lace lock to mitigate tongue migration. Hoka refined the heel, enhanced the underfoot transition, improved the forefoot fit, fine-tuned the midsole geometry for an inherently stable ride, and added a double-lace lock that makes getting in and out even easier.

Toe box too shallow

I was really looking forward to the release of the Clifton 10. Having used the Clifton 8 and Clifton 9 as my running shoes the past couple of years, I was all set to keep running with Cliftons. I bought the Clifton 10s a day or two after the release date and took them on a 9 mile run I experienced very poor air ventilation as the upper dosent allow for that. Not a lot of return from the shoe and couldn't really pick it up when needed ie hills or steeper terrain. After one use of the shoe it started to to tare from the upper and the outer sole was not happy so I returned the shoe and will never buy HOKA again going back to Saucony or ASICS!

Uninspiring Colors…

The Clifton 10 is like a New Balance running shoe from the 80s-90s (the larger or wider versions of the NB running shoes were mostly available in only gray or dark blue). That's the primary reason for this low rating. Hoka previously made colorful/bold versions of its succeeding iterations of Clifton available to those with larger feet. But not anymore. With its dull colors, it seems Hoka believes that its future is elderly mall walkers. After wearing Hoka exclusively the past 15 years or so, I'm looking at ASICS, the shoe brand I wore before the switch to Hoka.

Official Response by HOKA ONE ONE

We love anyone and everyone who is out walking. From mall walkers to outdoor walkers, to gym walkers, and with this new Clifton 10 launch we believe they will be a hit for anyone no matter what playground they are in. Toe box too shallow

I was really looking forward to the release of the Clifton 10. Having used the Clifton 8 and Clifton 9 as my running shoes the past couple of years, I was all set to keep running with Cliftons. And the Clifton 10 is extremely comfortable on the bottom with a nice spring. However, the toe box is more shallow than previous years and because of that, the top of the shoe rests on and rubs against the top of my big toe while at rest. It's really annoying and has the potential to be a problem with constant contact during running. This is such a bummer. Everything else about the shoe is great, except for this one aspect. I hope Hoka adjusts the depth of the toe box for the next iteration so I can back to the Cliftons in the future.

Official Response by HOKA ONE ONE

We are pumped with the launch of the Clifton 10, and we appreciate your feedback on this new iteration. We will be sending this valuable information to our production team. If the toe box doesn't feel the best, you are never stuck with an ill-fitting pair, and you have 30 days to send them back with our guarantee bit.ly/HOKA30Day. Out the box…no break in time! Different kind of bounce to these! This will be pair #7 of Hoka's. Different types for everyday and These and the Bondi 9's are A-1!! I'm a Phlebotomist so I do a lot of walking. #Clifton10

Drop some more colors it is summer time....The shoe is giving me more toe box room. I have a bunion and I am not giving up my daily walks and I do a lot of inclines. I am hitting that metatarsal and these shoes allow me to do it. I am very pleased. I have. Een rocking Hokas since 2015 and they don't disappoint me. I lost weight and paired down from the Bondi. These other brands are clueless. If you workout and have a active lifestyle then you found your shoe. Guaranteed..........Even my 87 year old father rocks them and he is active. My 82 year old mother rocks them. My whole family is team Hoka. Throw out some new colors please for the summer

Not as comfortable as Clifton 9. Toe box is not as sharp looking. The fit feels completely different from the Clifton family. Do not recommend.

I tried on the new Clifton 10. 210% better than the Clifton 9. The 9's were awful, the design was bad and the shoe soles were hard. The Clinton 10 are light and a much more plush than the 9's I have plantar fasciitis and the 10's are really will help and allow me to get my miles in. The new design feel great, I hope they will last longer than previous models.
