GEAR LIST & ADVENTURE GUIDE FOR A DAY TRIP TO JOSHUA TREE

Have you ever read The Lorax by Dr. Seuss? Maybe you've watched the movie The Martian starring Matt Damon? What could be better than immersing yourself in a place that looks like both? Let me tell you, my recent trip to Joshua Tree National Park for the first time was like seeing those two worlds collide. In this post, I’ll share tips on how to prepare yourself for a trip in the desert - diving into topics including:

  • Apparel to wear and gear to bring
  • Activities to do and places to visit within the park

If you’re a first time visitor to the park and having trouble planning out your trip, then you’ve come to the right place!

SPORTS BASEMENT'S GUIDE TO BAY AREA CAMPSITES (BY DRIVE TIME)

So you wanna go camping buuut you don’t want to load all your stuff into the car and drive for 10 hours. Or you don’t want to get up at an ungodly hour just to avoid traffic. Maybe you only wanna go for a day or two to start practicing your backpacking skills but you don’t want to spend a whole day just driving there. Or maybe your kids refuse to be in a car longer than an hour-- apparently that “Are we there yet?” bit never goes out of fashion.

where to find wildflower superblooms in norcal

You've heard the whole "April showers bring May flowers" thing. Unsurprisingly, after a long, record-breaking winter full of what felt like endless storms, our May flowers are blooming bigger and bolder than we've seen in years! It is absolutely time to pull on your hiking boots and get ready to feast your eyes on the stunning superblooms of Northern California. These colorful wildflower displays are a sight to behold, and there are plenty of great hiking trails to explore in the region - just remember to be respectful of the wilderness, keep your feet to the trails, and take nothing with you except your photos.

Globe trotters are also globe protectors

It's hard to explore all the glory and majesty Mother Nature provides without thinking of two things: one: you wanna get out there and see every inch of it, and two; throwing away any of your gear (or anything else!) into landfills is just not OK. We can help! Here are three ways you can upgrade your travel kit without hurting the Earth we cherish so deeply.
