Great bag for boating
I bought this bag to keep items dry when out on the boat. It is large enough for a beach towel, sweatshirt, paper towels, toilet paper and a few smaller items. Everything stays dry and the strap makes it easy to carry.
exactly what I wanted
Wanted a tough stuff sack to compress a whole pillow for backpacking. Worked like a charm.....no more rubber pillows or balled up clothing! It IS possible to be totally comfortable sleeping when backpacking. Lightweight and about the size of a bowling ball.
I loved it
Just go it and it is high quality. fits standard sleeping bag. It shrinks the size dramatically and very easy to use. I like hiking and this is recommended to every hiker
Pretty Good
Got this (XL size) based on other internet reviews that said it was a good balance between weight/compression/waterproof ability. I am using it to stuff the US military MSS sleeping bag. Army's got it's own gear for packing it but I am trying out this E-Vent instead. Let me say it is VERY difficult at first to get a sleeping bag (-40F waterproof) of this size and material into this sack. Tried stuffing it but that was basically a failure. Eventually I learned that rolling it helped get a better shape for the initial run at fitting it into the bag. It's still a tough slog to get the three rolls needed for "waterproof" on the opening. An extra 6 inches of length would make this sack a lot more useful for me and others to get the needed closure for waterproofing the opening. The bottom panel is the "vent" and while it does it's job, quite honestly it is misplaced/very slow. When you are fighting to get the gear in, it's not letting the air out fast enough (if at all) and usually one is trying to stuff items from the top down. It's placement on the bottom means nothing is escaping other than in the direction you are stuffing from. I even sat down, layed the sack horizontally and while grabbing the opening, used my feet to try and compress the gear into the bag hoping the e-vent would let the air out and get me the compression I desired for "closure." I'm not a small guy at 6'2", 255lbs ... honestly was waiting for the nylon to shred in my fingertips but it held. Once you get most of the gear inside, you can start the roll. I managed to get 1-2 rolls and then discovered this waterproofing material is not very slippery. It was difficult to get the bag to slide up after compressing material into it. All I wanted was that next couple of inches of bag length to finish my "waterproof rolling." So, in conclusion, strong 70denier nylon material! Slow venting while you need it to vent the most. Difficult to slip the gore-tex bivy past the sack's waterproof nylon and yes, I know I'm putting a waterproof bivy into a waterproof sack ... but I like dry gear when it comes time for R and R. She'll definately function and get the job done, I just wish they made a XXL that was 12" diameter and about 28-30" length. Good luck on all your adventures. Keep your noses clean!
Our daughter loved it!
Back from a year of teaching and mountain climbing in Asia , she claims this is the best gift she received for her adventure. Used it to compress bulky sweaters on the way in and every weekend of climbing or trekking. Wants a few more, says can't live without it.
