Basementeer Spotlight: Can Do! Education Foundation

Thanks to our Basementeers Sports Basement was able to give over $5,000 to the Can Do! Education Foundation this year!

These funds will go towards social/emotional learning and counseling services, afterschool and intramural sports, new clubs, academic leadership opportunities, PE specialists and equipment, and environmental science technology.

The Can Do! Education Foundation is a community funded, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We partner with families, teachers, and local businesses to fill state funding gaps and provide financial resources to offer an enriched, well-rounded education for all students in the Miller Creek School District. Supporting Every Student Every Day!

ABOUT CAN DO!

The Can Do! Education Foundation is a community funded non-profit organization that provides vital funds to the Miller Creek School District in order to bridge the financial gap between current state and local funding and the cost of an enriched, well-rounded education for all our students.

HOW DOES CAN DO! WORK?

Can Do! commits funds to the Miller Creek School District annually based on the needs as determined by the District Administrative Staff. As Can Do! raises the money, the funds are disbursed to the District via a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that is agreed upon in June of the prior school year. Additional funding outside the scope of the MOU is disbursed directly to the 4 schools of Miller Creek School District: Lucas Valley Elementary, Mary E. Silveira Elementary, Vallecito Elementary, and Miller Creek Middle School.

Each year Can Do! board members, volunteers, and staff work together to reach out to families and local businesses seeking financial contributions to help "bridge the gap" cost through our Annual Family Giving Campaign and our Business Partner Campaign.

Other funds are raised from:

  • SchoolsRule-Marin
  • Run As One 5K/Fun Run
  • Holiday Online Auction
  • Annual Scotty's/Can Do! Golf Tournament
  • Shop 4 Can Do!
  • Other community donations and miscellaneous income
