Leki Superlock Expander 14mm
Spare plastic expander for SLS twist lock Leki Poles. The acronym SLS stands for Super Lock System and they are widely used in various modern leki poles. They are very easy to tell apart from old expanders as there is a slot in the middle and they are blue, green or black (old ones were bright orange). They wear out very slowly, but if you feel that your pole is no longer locking as securely as it used to, it might be time to get some new ones. Sometimes problems with SLS poles locking are caused by either corrosion of the screw, in which case a whole new section will be required or by the plastic red rocket (technical leki term wingnut or flugelmutter) loseing its grip, in which case you require a wingnut replacement. In the vast majority of cases however, an expander is all that is needed.
- 14mm size Green (actually measures 11.6 mm) is to be used on lower section of ultralite poles (which should have diameter of 11.6 mm)
- The SLS expanders are an evolution of the classic lock used by Leki. They are the strongest locking system ever used in poles with holding weight of over 140kg and require very little force to lock securely.
