Is the bus operating during the COVID-19 pandemic?
There is currently no opening date set. We will not run the Tahoe Ski Bus unless we can do so safely and there is sufficient demand. Most likely we will not run the bus unless there is a widely distributed and effective vaccine. If this occurs, we may start operations later than normal (i.e. February or March depending on snow conditions). Additionally, we may offer reduced buses from reduced locations to match demand. If you are a season pass holder and the bus does not operate this season, you will receive a full refund or you can defer you pass to next year. There is no penalty for waiting. Please check back regularly for updates.
How do I change or cancel my reservation?
There are a number of ways. 1) If it's more than 2 days prior to the trip, you can do it yourself by clicking the 'Manage this booking' link in your confirmation email, or 2) email firstname.lastname@example.org, or 3) call our Help Hub at (800) 869-6670. Reminder: there are no refunds for cancellations made within 12 hours of the purchased trip. You may reschedule, though, at any time.
How do I get my gear pre-loaded onto the bus?
Simply reserve your gear online here, and select the options for utilizing the bus. Step 1 for packages and skis/boards. Step 2 for individual items. Upon reserving your bus seat, you will also be asked to include your rental reservation number in the questionnaire after checkout.
Can I rent gear the morning of the bus?
Unfortunately, no. There is not time, and the stores are not open.
How do I reserve rental gear for the bus if it is within 2 days?
Online reservations cannot be made if it is less than 2 days before the rental date; however, you can come into the store the day prior to your bus trip and rent gear in person. You can then leave the gear to be loaded onto the bus the next morning. Please ensure you arrive at the store no later than 7PM.
Does the ski bus have bathrooms or wifi?
Yep! All of our ski buses come equipped with bathrooms and wifi. Most buses also come equipped with electrical charging outlets as well. We also stock the bus with plenty of snacks, water, & other beverages including coffee to enjoy on the way to and from the mountain.
Will there be food and drinks?
Yes! Fresh coffee, Noah's bagels, fruit, yogurt and bars are provided for breakfast. Clif bars for the mountain and then a full apres ski selection of beer, wine and snacks before you head home.
What if I only need a ride one-way?
One-way tickets are 20% off. Just enter code ONEWAY, and then indicate which way you want to go in the checkout questionnaire. Please see itineraries above for departure times & locations.
Are lift tickets included?
Lift tickets for Squaw | Alpine and Northstar are not included. But we do offer great discounts when you reserve your spot on the Tahoe Ski Bus! Stay tuned for more information about lift tickets.
Is there an age-restriction?
All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Teens ages 16-17 can ride without an adult but must have a parent/guardian sign the liability waiver.
What if the bus is full?
If you click on the full date that you are interested in, it will automatically give you the option to sign up for the wait list. If spaces open up, you will be sent an automated message. Waitlist spots are first come, first serve, so register as soon as you receive the alert.
Is there a cutoff time for booking my spot?
Registration closes at 7PM the day prior to the trip. There are no refunds given to cancellations made within 12 hours of the purchased trip.
Why is my season pass code not working?
- Confirm you received the 2nd informational email with the code, not the payment confirmation, from SBOutdoors@ or Friends@, not XOLA. Subject: 2019/20 SB Ski Bus Season Pass Information. Check SPAM folder, if not received within 24 hours.
- Ensure code is some version of firstname.lastname and make sure to add the period (.)
- Ensure you are only booking dates when the bus is offered. No weekdays. Saturdays only for Northstar, WC, ROS. Northstar starts on Jan 4 from SV/BRY only.
- Code is just for bus. Lift tickets not discounted
What happens if there's bad weather?
The safety of our ski bus passengers is our top priority. We will run the bus rain or shine, but if weather conditions don't allow for a safe drive both to and from the mountain, the trip will be cancelled. You'll be given the option of receiving a full refund or rescheduling your trip to a later date. Check current Tahoe weather and road conditions (Live HWY 80 camera map).
