All-over print in "Blackletter" script was designed by our founder, Mark, and executed by his son Spencer, who is studying graphic design in college. Blackletter traces it's roots to 12th-century Western Europe, when it was used to hand-illuminate manuscripts. The term Gothic was later used to describe this script in 15th-century Italy, during the Renaissance, as it was regarded as a "barbaric" letterform by the intellectuals at the time.
